Ramsey at 31 weeks: 4D Sono

Ramsey In Action

Ramsey is now 31 weeks in my tummy and is certainly getting bigger and bigger every day. I'm measuring right on track and the doctor feels that everything is going well. Ramsey's heartbeat was 149bpm at this visit. He is still very active and loves to put his head on my bladder and smash it on my uterin wall for extra cushion. In recent sono's, Ramsey always has his hand close to his face. As you will see in the 4D sono clip, his right hand stays snug by his right ear the whole time.

Watching the sono was an amazing experience for Shaun and I. I fought back my tears so I didn't seem like a little whimp, but the frog in my throat was croaking. Ramsey was laying in the posterior position (head down) with his face up; most of his head and neck were up against my left hip pretty tightly so I had to lay on my side for the technician to view him. He didn't move around very much during the sono. He was very content with where he was and refused to let us see "everything". He already has his father's stubborn streak! He certainly doesn't get that from me. LOL. We noticed that Ram has long eyelashes, round and full chubby cheeks, a cute little button nose, and all his fingers and toes are in tact on the right side. He flashed his foot up by his face several times for us to see and he wiggled his fingers around a lot. I immediately started counting. He grinned several times throughout the sono which was the sweetest thing I've ever seen!

I can't stop staring at the photos we brought home. I really think he looks like Shaun already with the exception of his little nose. We immediately put the DVD into the player when we got home and watched it. It's about 20 minutes long and with every minute....I fell more in love. I can't wait for him to get here! 9 more weeks.......tick, tock, tick, tock.

Update on Ramsey

Shaun and I had an awesome doctor's visit today! Dr. Garner is such a fun-loving person and makes us feel "right at home". We received a great update on Ramsey today.
  • 1st: It's still a boy!!! Shaun was so worried that Ramsey would lose his "manliness". It's all there!
  • Ramsey's heartrate is 153 bpm and going strong. He was very active during the sonogram today and the nurse commented on how nicely his feet stood on top of my bladder as he kicked around.
  • Ramsey's head was facing downward toward my spine and his head was up at the top of my belly. His hiney was around the lower part of my belly.
  • He currently weighs about 1lb and 13 oz.
  • Mommy's blood pressure and weight are both good.
  • Next appointment is in 3 weeks and I can't wait to go back!

Baby Shower in McKinney

I am so lucky to have such great girlfriends in my life. I had an awesome baby shower on Saturday, September 6th hosted by Julie, Khourie, Kelli, and Ashley. The girls did an outstanding job transforming my house into a baby wonderland filled with lots of good food and super cute decorations. I was greeted by guests for several hours and received lots of wonderful and very useful gifts. Thank you to all who came, and to those who sent gifts by mail. Shaun and I are so grateful and appreciative.
With Love....The Washington Trio

6 months pregnant...

I'm now a little over 6 months pregnant (25 weeks). I'm back in school and survived my 1st week in the classroom, but not without swollen feet and a very tired body at the end of the day. My kindergarten kids keep me active and "on my toes" all day but I've still managed to find the energy to "tooty-ta dance" and roll around on the floor during the day--though my movements aren't quite as quick (LOL!). I love my job....and Ram seems to enjoy hearing my voice throughout the day b/c he kicks and moves around on a consistent basis. When I lift my shirt and lay down, I'm able to see him nudging around in my belly, especially in the evenings. Shaun loves to touch my tummy and feel Ram kickbox.

My mom and dad recently celebrated their 60th bdays. Coincidentally, they both have the exact same birthday. My stepmom and I planned a surprise party for my father and the theme of the party was "He's Older Than Dirt". Shaun and I took my mom out to eat and spent the weekend with her to celebrate her special day.

My parents gave Shaun and I an early baby shower gift (It is so cool! Thanks Mom & Dad--very sweet of you.). They gave us Ramsey's carseat and stroller combo (see picture of Shaun putting it together) and another friend of the family gave us his little bouncer and a cute bib (Thanks Walt and Bunny!). Shaun's parents purchased the mattress for Ramsey's crib (Thank You, Thank You!) so we're slowly but surely making progress on the preparation of his arrival in a few short months.

Shaun and I are signed up to take our Lamaze classes and will begin on Sept 7th. Our next doctor's appointment is on Sept 10th and we get to have another sonogram of Ramsey at that visit. We're both eager to see what the little stinker looks like now....so more updates to come after the 10th. Until then, thanks for keeping up with us.

Much Love....Penny, Shaun, & Ramsey
